The latest news from home micro observation: Kronospan, the world's largest board manufacturer, is preparing to spend more than 400 million euros (about 2.7 billion yuan) to build a new board manufacturing plant for the local furniture industry in Tortosa, Catalonia, Spain.

   This will be one of the largest foreign investments in history in the region, and will create more than 185 direct jobs and about 1500 indirect jobs in the fields of timber supply, logistics, maintenance and services.

   Javier Macicior, general manager of Crosbane Spain, said that this is a 100% sustainable project, which conforms to the principle of circular economy. This investment will establish a business cluster of related enterprises near the new site, which will greatly promote the local economic development.

The new plant will use wood with a recovery rate of up to 100%, mainly from scrap furniture collected by suppliers in Knos. The new plant plans to receive 100 trucks of recycled wood every day and wash, crush and process the wood. The most advanced particleboard press will be used in the processing process, which can produce 2000 cubic meters of particleboard every day. The planned output is 720000 cubic meters per year, which can help reduce the carbon dioxide footprint of Catalonia by 720000 tons per year.

   Infrastructure construction has started in February 2022, covering an area of 25 hectares (about 250000 square meters), including a 40 meter high cleaning tower and photocells for separating wood chips and waste. The heat required in the production process will come from biomass boilers that use bark and processed wood waste as fuel. Solar panels installed on the factory roof will provide clean and renewable energy for the production line.
